What are the issues?

The NHS Pension Scheme is complex, and errors can occur. For GPs and dentists, these complexities are amplified due to benefit calculations involving flexibility calculation.

All NHS Employees - Doctors, Nurses, Management, Administration Staff

Errors in payable dates, leading to missed monthly pension payments

Incorrect recording of pensionable earnings

Failure to use the correct (highest) pay figure for benefit calculations

Incorrect or missing historical service and membership records

Omission of available HMRC protection, leading to unnecessary Lifetime Allowance (LTA) charges

Incorrect calculation of Lifetime Allowance (LTA) charges

Increasing frequency of system calculation errors

GP’s & Dentists

Practitioner and dentist pension benefits can be calculated in up to six different ways. Ideally, the most beneficial method should be applied, but errors often occur.

In addition to the issues facing all NHS Staff (listed to the left) GP’s/Dentists also have the following issues:

Application of incorrect flexibility calculations (not the most beneficial)

Application of outdated dynamising factors to earnings—a common mistake

Incorrect application of FVEC (Flexibilities Value Earnings Credit), a complex calculation designed to enhance 1995/2008 practitioner benefits

FNeglecting to check the Final Salary Link (FSL)—if you also have hospital/officer employment, an FSL check can enhance benefits

Expert Advice

Allow us to verify that you've received the correct amounts. With decades of experience in calculating pension benefits, we can review your service and pay history for errors, ensuring the most beneficial calculations have been applied.

How much do we charge?

We operate on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis. If your benefits have been paid correctly, there is no charge.

If however we identify a mistake that increases your pension benefits, we request 25% of any arrears paid to you, including pension arrears and possibly a lump sum. (See FAQ’s for example)

How do I register?

All you have to do is complete the registration form and we will email you our Letter of Authority. Once you’ve signed and returned it to us, we will contact NHS Pensions to request your retirement benefit details, as well as your service and pay history. We will then conduct our checks and email you with the results.

If we identify any errors resulting in repayments, we will work with NHS Pensions to revise your pension benefits. Any arrears or adjustments will be paid directly to you by NHS Pensions.
